Govee’s Newest TV Backlight Produces Vivid Colors in the Light and the Dark

I am not a big LED person, but the idea of ​​a backlight that reacts to what I look at and that I play was too cool to ignore. I did not know how much the Govee TV 3 backlight would occur, but I left very impressed.

Lights, camera, calibrate

The first thing I noticed about the Pro 3 backlight was that the configuration was incredibly simple. While I removed the equipment, I could guess what was almost everything for even looking at the manual. It is so simple that it can even be summed up in a sentence. You place your TV somewhere where the screen will not be scratched, glue the LED strips on it, connect everything and configure everything in the Govee application.

Of course, there are more nuances in the process than that, but it’s always simple, especially if you’ve already used other Govee products. The most capricious part of the configuration is to use the orange calibration foam to correctly line your camera with the TV screen, but it is necessary that the step is thus, or the backlight may not collect the right colors.

Once you have followed the process, ask the camera to scan a light gray screen and make sure that the tape orientation corresponds to the colors of your screen, the backlight pro 3 is good to do. But you will first want to play with the myriads of personalization options.

Much to personalize

Once you have finished the initial configuration, you can consult the Govee application settings to adjust the lighting to your taste. There are four main parameters – solid, lively, smooth and delicate – and each refers to the granular of the camera by reading the colors on the screen and applying them to backlight. The solid will choose the predominant color on the screen and use it, while Dellicate will reproduce as many “areas” as possible to provide the most precise color replication as seen on the screen.

I preferred one of the two average parameters, depending on what I looked at and played. Solid was GOODBut I felt that he had not used the features of the backlight. The delicate, meanwhile, was almost too granular for me, the colors constantly changing with almost everything I tried. Vivid often worked best for me when I played video games that changed the screens (and therefore the colors) relatively frequently, and Smooth was ideal for everything else.

There are also other interesting features. If you watch a movie in mailbox, you can activate a parameter, so the backlight automatically ignores the black bars. I also activated a parameter that would also have the light which would also react to the sound of what you are looking at, but when I learned that the “sound effects” also included the ambient noise in my room, I turned it off. It is a setting that can work very well with the films, I am sure, but my TV was too close to me, and I play my media too quietly to make it effective.

In addition to all these options, the backlight 3 pro also presents a rocking to indicate whether a film or a video game plays on the TV, allowing lights to adapt accordingly. That said, I have often forgotten to go to “game” mode when starting something, and I didn’t notice any tangible difference between the two when I remembered. But it is always worth playing with both to see what seems better to you.

Lively and visible

Everything above is great, but that does not mean much if the backlight does not work as you think or if the lights are more distracting than Immersives. Fortunately, this is not at all a concern.

No matter what I was doing, the backlight has always responded quickly, and the way she changed between the colors was smooth and never shocking. If I watch a youtube video with a relatively static background, the LEDs would reproduce the colors correctly and did nothing or do anything to distract me. If I play a game, the colors would change quickly, but not to the point that I would always notice it.

In addition, the Backlight Pro 3 TV did not simply react to everything on the screen – the camera also reacted to its general environment. It was more obvious when the television was turned off, but during the day, I would see the LEDs responding to the sunlight coming from the window, or if I put my hand near a sensor, it would change the bands on one side in pinkish red. When I turned off all the lights of my apartment to go to bed, the backlights were always technically lit, but the light was so dark that I would never have noticed unless I watched them.

This means that the backlight itself will be as shiny or as dark as it is necessary, depending on the lighting you have in the room. If it is dark, the relative brightness of the LEDs will fall so as not to hurt your eyes; If you have the lights on, the brightness will increase so that you can really see the colors. It is a very intelligent feature on the part of Govee, given how much he could have been able to work with the lights differently.

In short, I have often forgotten that I even had the backlit 3 pro lighting, and for me, it means that it did exactly what it was supposed to. The lights have improved my viewing experience, but they never stole the show, so to speak.

Unexpected advantages

One thing I really didn’t expect that the backlight 3 pro is to make my eyes feel better. I no longer suffer from an eye launcher, since I keep my apartment relatively well lit and that I take time from my computer screens. But at one point, I was testing the backlight when I returned to my PC to type something, and the white screen of the document was suddenly so austere and gave me a familiar feeling which was the beginning of the Eyeetrain.

I did not look at the computer screen in the dark, and the game I played just before I blend off in white instead of vanishing with black between the scenes (for those who know what reason), so it was not because I was not looking at a shiny screen before. It was just that the backlight made the lights on the screen less austere and easier on the eyes.

For all those who have planned to reduce Eyestain, it does not really come like a shock – a good lighting that is etericous, the sudden lighting on the screens is one of the main ways to brake pain. But I did not understand very well all the extent of my lighting configurations until the backlight 3 has come into play. Now, I plan to obtain white LED strips with low light to fix my monitors to help reduce the potential of the Einfrain.

Should you buy the Backlight Govee TV 3 Pro?

There is not much to hate about the Backlight 3 Pro of Govee TV. It does exactly what you want and more. There are a few small points of pain, like a little clumsy with the Govee application or certain features that operate better than others. But if you are on the market for any type of backlight for your TV, it’s the product up to bottom.
