GPT-5 from OpenAI is a dream come true for vibe coders
Openai’s best language model is there. The GPT-5 should breathe new life into chatgpt, which makes it faster, more useful and easier to use. To put the coding capacities of the atmosphere of GPT-5 to the test, the technological editor of Mashable asked him to create a visualization of the sinking of the Titanic, using this prompt:
Please create a personalized visualization that shows the sinking of the Titanic, with a clock showing the chronology of events. Visualization should manifest itself inside the ship, including waterproof compartments and leaks that ultimately caused the ship to flow. You should be able to suspend visualization and click on the ship to reveal information on the calendar of events.
First of all, we tried this prompt with GPT-4O. The results were not great. His first attempt did not even work; Chatgpt had to resolve his own program. Once finished, the visualizations were also extremely minimal and barely interactive. However, GPT-5 did a quick job of this assignment. (See the outing by yourself at Chatgpt.)
GPT-5 created a realistic visualization, just as we asked, showing how water filled each compartment of the Titanic. The application takes you through the complete chronology of events, and you can take a break, speed up visualization and jump at specific moments of interest.

Now it’s not perfect. With another fast engineering, you can give clearer instructions on the types of visuals. And the graph of waterproof compartments blocks other elements of the application as the chronology progresses. However, it looks like a leap forward for the mood coding.
I don’t expect GPT-5 getting All All the time, especially with regard to coding, and especially just after launch. When you coding for atmosphere, you try to communicate what you want in natural language. And if you have already been misunderstood by a friend or a spouse, you know that it is not always easy to communicate ideas. You will probably have to modify and refine all the software you give with GPT-5.
GPT-5 will probably not create a code that completely Without bug, as our experience shows. However, we can say that it is remarkably better than GPT-4O.
Natural language is the next coding language

And although the benchmarks reported in the GPT-5 system card put GPT-5 in front of Claude, more independent tests will be necessary to confirm it.
