‘Hilarious’ to Watch Lefty Justices Sound Like Scalia on Birthright Citizenship

On Fox News Channel’s “Ingraham Angle” Wednesday, Fox News contributor and George Washington University law professor Jonathan Turley discussed the birthright case before the Supreme Court and said it was “hilarious” to listen to liberal justices, “who rarely allow the language of the Constitution to stand in the way of a favored interpretation,” channeling the late Justice Antonin Scalia with his way of reading the Constitution.
Turley said: “[T]These judges were really dealing with over 100 years of precedent. The hilarious part of this, Laura, and I’m sure you felt the same way, was hearing the liberal justices, who rarely allow the language of the Constitution to stand in the way of a favored interpretation, but they seemed to be channeling Scalia today, talking about we really need to get back to that original intent, and it’s pretty clear that that’s the English rule. And this obviously worked in favor of conservative judges.
He added that “conservatives tend to rush to this place, they tend to follow precedent, they tend not to read too much into the language, and that benefits the left here.”
