Researchers from the University of Bologna and the Leibniz Institute for Astrophysics in Potsdam (AIP), as well as other institutes, have proposed a new way to resolve the Hubble tension by comparing estimates of the age of the universe rather than its expansion rate. Using precise stellar data, they determined the ages of carefully selected very old stars in the Milky Way and found a very likely age of around 13.6 billion years.
