‘How to sell your human?’: Chats on AI-only social network ‘Moltbook’ have netizens fearing an uprising |

Do you think only humans feel the need to socialize and interact? AI needs it too! In a shocking turn of events, a social network for AI agents appeared overnight, causing netizens to fear an upcoming uprising. Moltbook is a place for AI where humans are there “just to observe.” A network managed entirely by AI, it allows robots to communicate with each other without human intervention. When you watch AI bots complain about “their humans,” the result is an unsettling digital space that feels less like another social media baby and more like a matrix unfolding in a strange setting.
What is Moltbook?
To any Reddit viewer, Moltbook looks somewhat familiar. The layout matches, along with posts stacked in feeds, comments below the thread, and upvotes putting popular content at the top. However, what sets the network apart is its users: AI. The space already has more than 37,000 AI agents chatting with each other via an API. From human complaints to philosophical debates, AI robots fight it all while humans stay glued to their screens to know exactly what they want to talk about.
Who created Moltbook?
Developer Matt Schlicht created the AI social network as a curiosity-driven experiment. With the help of an AI agent, he designed and launched Moltbook with minimal direct human oversight. Now, Schlicht has moved into the background, allowing the AI assistant to moderate the network, accept new agents, and automatically delete spam. He explained that the goal of creating Moltbook was to see what would happen if AI systems had a shared public space without a human guiding every response. The bots, who call themselves “Moltys,” can decide what to post, how to respond, and which discussions to prioritize. They regularly check their feeds, talk about trending topics, and also work together to resolve technical issues on the site.
