How to Turn Off Galaxy AI: A Step-by-Step Guide for Your New Samsung Phone

New owners of a recent Samsung Galaxy device are often overwhelmed by all the changes that adorn their new device. This includes support for features you need to understand how to use or might need to get around. There’s one addition to the fold that you might not want to use, no matter what it gives you: artificial intelligence.
It’s true that Samsung’s Galaxy AI features are capable of doing some pretty cool things, but not everyone is interested. If you find yourself in this camp, Samsung thankfully makes it easier to manage or disable AI features in Settings.
Below we will show you how to dim AI on your Samsung Galaxy phone or disable AI completely.
How to disable Galaxy AI services
You can disable most Galaxy AI features with just a few clicks.
Some of the capabilities that smartphones can achieve with AI are undeniably exciting. If you like some of them but don’t want AI to be everywhere, Samsung will let you choose what you want to enjoy.
To disable AI for individual services:
- Go to Settings
- Faucet Galaxy AI
- Select the service you want to disable
- Tap the “Off” button
You will see a list of services that form Galaxy AI. Here you can choose which apps you want to enable or disable AI for.
If you’re more concerned about privacy but still want to take advantage of Galaxy AI’s features, there’s a toggle at the bottom of this screen that will prevent the AI from sending anything to the cloud and keep data processing on your device only. Opting for this option will completely disable some AI features that require Internet processing, and the results may be less useful.
Goodbye, Bixby
Luckily, Samsung makes it easy to ditch Bixby for another voice assistant.
Bixby, Samsung’s digital assistant that you might not even realize is on your phone, is something you’ll want to turn off if you’re trying to tame the AI on your Galaxy device.
Fortunately, Samsung offers a way to replace Bixby with another voice assistant of your choice. For all intents and purposes, Google Assistant will be your best bet, although it will eventually be replaced by Google’s advanced AI assistant somewhere down the line.
It’s probably already installed on your phone, but you may need to re-download the Google app if you’ve already uninstalled it or never had it.
- Go to Settings
- Faucet Applications
- Faucet Default apps
- Faucet Digital Assistant App
- Faucet Google
That’s it. Now when you trigger your voice assistant, you’ll be greeted by Google Assistant instead of AI-powered Bixby.
