Amazon is ending support for third-party integrations on its Luna cloud gaming service. The most immediate changes mean it is no longer possible to purchase Ubisoft+ and Jackbox Games subscriptions or standalone games through Luna.

Amazon will automatically cancel all active subscriptions purchased through Luna at the end of customers’ next billing cycle. If you have a Ubisoft+ subscription that you purchased directly from Ubisoft, you will still be able to access games from that service through Luna until June 10.

Also disappearing is the Bring Your Own Library option, which allows users to play games they own from EA, GOG, and Ubisoft on Luna. You will no longer be able to access games from these storefronts via Amazon’s streaming service after June 3.

If you purchased games directly from Luna, you will still be able to play them until June 10. Unlike Google when it shut down Stadia, Amazon is not offering refunds for these purchases. However, you will always have access to it through the respective third-party platform linked to your account, whether it is the EA app, GOG Galaxy or Ubisoft Connect.

This doesn’t really help people who don’t have systems powerful enough to play more demanding games and rely on Luna. As such, some people might need to switch to GeForce Now in order to continue playing the games they purchased through Luna (and they’ll have to hope that GFN actually supports their specific games).

Amazon has been remodeling Luna over the past few months. It rolled out a revamped version of the service in October, with more emphasis on GameNight board games that you can play with a smartphone.

Prime subscribers will still be able to claim PC games and stream games at Luna Standard tier at no additional cost. The Luna Premium subscription, which includes a wider range of third-party games, is also still available.

“We’re doubling down on a wide range of gaming experiences, including powerful third-party titles, delivered in ways that make great games more accessible, as well as new and unique gaming experiences like GameNight,” Amazon wrote in an email to Luna users. The company also announced that it would offer some people a free Luna Premium subscription.
