IDF says Palestinian man killed in West Bank after throwing explosive
The Israeli military said on Sunday that it killed a Palestinian who threw an explosive device toward its soldiers during an operation in the north of the West Bank overnight.
The incident, “during which a terrorist hurled an explosive device toward the soldiers,” occurred in the Nablus area, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) wrote on Telegram.
The Palestinian Health Ministry said the victim was 19 years old. The Palestinian news agency WAFA reported, citing the Red Crescent, that the man was shot in the chest after the IDF attacked the Askar refugee camp east of Nablus.
Another teenager was shot in the back during the raid, the agency reported. His age was not disclosed and he is being treated in a clinic.
The situation in the occupied West Bank has escalated since the massacre carried out by the Islamist terrorist organization Hamas in Israel on October 7, 2023, and the resulting Gaza war.
More than 1,000 Palestinians have been killed in the West Bank since then in Israeli military operations, armed clashes and attacks, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry. At the same time, radical Israeli settlers are increasingly attacking Palestinians in the West Bank.
