I’m obsessed with the “Conversate” app on my Even Realities G2 smart glasses. Overall, the glasses are cool sci-fi – they project a little monochrome HUD in front of your eyes but look like normal glasses – but Conversate is essential. The AI-powered productivity tool is designed for work meetings, but it’s also fun in social settings, and you can use it to scam free drinks from bartenders.

Use Conversate and never take notes in a meeting again

If you’ve ever left a work meeting thinking, “Wait, I’m I Am I supposed to file the TPS reports, or is it Gary’s week?” Consider Conversate. I’m not good at multitasking, so listening while taking notes can be difficult. Conversate solves this problem.

Here’s how it works: You press the Start button on the app, and the AI listens and transcribes everything someone says in real time. The text is just out of your view unless you’re looking at it, so it’s not distracting, but if someone asks a factual question, you’ll get a silent answer in a pop-up in your glasses. If you share this fact, it can make you seem very intelligent. Or like a know-it-all, so use it wisely. If someone says the name of a person or company, you get a pop-up that also tells you who/what they are. Usually this doesn’t help (I already know what Google is and who Jesus Christ is), but sometimes it gives the necessary context.

Once the meeting is over, you can view a summary of what was discussed and Conversate will highlight anything that looks like a task for you. You can then complete these tasks and migrate them to your glasses’ task list with one click, so you have a checkable list of action items floating in front of your eyes whenever you want.

I realize that all of these functions could be accomplished with a number of smartphone apps, but with Conversate you keep your phone in your pocket, much more discreetly.

How to use Conversate to win bar bets and pretend to be smart

I used the latest generation of Even Realities smart glasses to win a drink from a bartender, and Conversate makes that kind of shenanigan even easier. He’s constantly listening for questions and giving you answers, so if you’re a dishonest person, you can totally rule on trivia night, impress your friends with your human calculator skills, or tell everyone the day of the week they were born. An added bonus: the G2s don’t look like smart glasses, and if you pair them with the ring controller, no one will ever know you’re cheating all the time.

How to have fun at parties with Conversate

The latter use really depends on who you’re hanging out with, but in the right crowd, Conversate becomes a hilarious party game. It’s fun to read people the AI’s stilted definitions for common terms, a rhythm behind the conversation. It’s funny when your friends start saying obscure names to see if your glasses will tell you who they are. It’s fun for people to invent “action items” that you also have to do later. Everyone at the party will call you a nerd, but they will still want to try on your glasses. Are they secretly jealous of your cutting-edge technology? Probably not, to be honest. Either way, when you’re done hanging out with your friends, Conversate will translate the party banter and chatter into “business-speak” summaries, which I find delicious.

What do you think of it so far?
