The Ministry of Internal Security announced that it launched an immigration application operation in Illinois in the last climbing federal action in American cities and the States led by Democrats.

The agency declared in an article on X that the US immigration customs and undercorcement “Operation Midway Blitz” are in honor of Katie Abraham, a 20 -year -old woman, he was killed in January in a crime accident in a state of drunkenness involving a man who is an immigrant undocumented in Illinois.

Officials identified it as Julio Cucul-Bol. NPR has not confirmed the details of the incident. The DHS Post presented an interview with the victim’s parents, Joe and Michelle Abraham, who declared that the incident had taken place in Urbana, Ill.

DHS claims that the target ice operation “illegal criminal foreigners who flocked for Chicago and Illinois” because they knew the policies of the Governor of the Illinois Democrat JB Pritzker would protect them.

The latter announces on Illinois follows one summer during which the Trump administration targeted the cities led by Democrat for an increase in the application of immigration and deployments of the National Guard.

He also followed a previous announcement of the DHS who said he launched a new effort to apply immigration to Massachusetts, according to reports from the NPR member station Wbur to Boston.

Meanwhile, the troops of the National Guard – some of which are still patrolling the streets of Washington, DC, to respond to the concerns of the administration concerning crime. This despite the fact that the city is experiencing a 30 -year hollow, according to the US Ministry of Justice earlier this year. And earlier on Monday, the United States Supreme Court took a side of President Trump, allowing immigration raids to Los Angeles to continue. This allows immigration agents to carry out “itinerant patrols” and in profile people according to their appearance in Los Angeles and in southern California.

Chicago intervention

The announcement that Illinois will be the target of an increase in the application of immigration comes after a confusing weekend during which Trump increased threats to Chicago, then brought them back.

Throughout the weekend, Trump argued that the National Guard would be sent to the City and other major American cities, all directed by Democrats, to fight crime and to intensify the arrests and deportations of immigration.

As in Washington, DC, where Trump sent national guard troops last month, data show that violent crimes have decreased in Chicago in recent years.

Trump posted on social networks that Chicago was about to find out why the Ministry of Defense is called the “Ministry of War”. (Last week, the president signed an executive decree rejoining the department, but it would take an act of the congress to make this official.)

In response to Trump’s post, Pritzker this weekend wrote on X that Trump “threatened to go to war with an American city. It is not a joke. It is not normal”.

But Trump then told journalists on Sunday when he left the White House: “We are not going to war. We are going to clean our cities. We will clean them so that they do not kill five people every weekend. It’s not war, it’s common sense.”

While Trump continued, the residents of Chicago expressed a deep concern about what this federal action threatens. It seems, for the moment, this federal presence will take the form of an increase in glacial agents in the streets. On Monday afternoon, there was no indication that there was an increase in the application of immigration.

Boston faces an increase in law application

During the weekend, the DHS confirmed to Wbur that it launched a second wave of application of immigration throughout the Massachusetts, but did not specify how long there would be an increased ice activity.

This application effort can be strongly focused on the city of Boston, according to Wbur, which reported that the DHS specifically called the mayor of Boston, Michelle Wu, affirming that the laws on the city’s sanctuary “attract and criminals of the port”.

In May, federal immigration officials said they had arrested nearly 1,500 people as part of a one -month repression called “Patriot Operation”, Wbur reported. DHS refers to this new wave of “Patriot 2.0”.

This type of federal intervention in major American cities and states should not stop anytime soon, because Trump has also threatened to send troops to Baltimore and New Orleans in recent days.

Joe Hernandez and Kat Lonsdorf of NPR contributed to this story.
