Instagram comments can now be edited (within 15 minutes)

Meta gives users the ability to edit the Instagram comments they leave on posts, but only within 15 minutes of posting. The setup is similar to how the social app handles editing messages, an option first added in 2024, 11 years after direct messaging was introduced on Instagram in 2013.
You can only edit comments you left with your own account, and the process for doing so is simple. Simply tap the word “Edit” below your comment to bring up a text box where you can edit, rework, or embellish what you’ve written, then tap the blue checkmark to save it. Meta says comments can be edited as many times as you want in that 15 minute window, so if you need to make more changes, you have that option.
Comments can appear in multiple ways on Instagram – including Stories, starting in 2024 – so offering a way to edit them is a welcome addition. The new option is just the latest in a series of changes Meta has introduced to the social app over the past month. Earlier in March, the company announced that it was removing end-to-end encryption from Instagram DMs. At the end of the month, Meta also began testing Instagram Plus, a subscription service that unlocks new features for the app’s Stories feature.
