iOS 26.4.1 Automatically Enables This iPhone Security Feature

Apple released iOS 26.4.1 on April 8, about two weeks after the company pulled it. iOS 26.4. Although this update is packed with features, like new emoji and video podcasts, the latest update is much smaller. Apple writes that iOS 26.4.1 focuses on bug fixes. Additionally, according to an Apple support document, the update will automatically enable the security feature. Protecting Stolen Devices on some iPhones.
You can download iOS 26.4.1 now by going to Settings and typing General. Then select Software updatefaucet Update now and follow the prompts on your screen.
“This update provides bug fixes for your iPhone,” Apple wrote in the update’s release notes. While it’s unclear what bugs iOS 26.4.1 fixes, the update appears to enable Stolen Device Protection on iPhones that don’t already have the security feature.
“Stolen Device Protection adds a layer of security when your iPhone is away from familiar places, like your home or work, and helps protect your accounts and personal information in case your iPhone is stolen,” Apple wrote online.
The company typically releases common vulnerabilities and exposure entries as well as updates that include security fixes, but Apple has not released any such notice for iOS 26.4.1.
It’s not uncommon for Apple to release an update without CVE entries. The company has not published any CVE entries for iOS 26.3.1either.
Even if you already have Stolen Device Protection enabled on your iPhone, you should still download the update to ensure your device has the most recent patches and fixes. This way you can ensure that your device works as well as possible and is protected against known vulnerabilities.
