If you have an Apple Intelligence compatible iPhone, the first public beta version of iOS 26 brings notification summaries in AI to news and entertainment applications after being partially removed earlier this year.

Technological advice

Appes diable AI Notification Summary of news and entertainment applications in January. This came a few weeks after the BBC stressed in December that the functionality had twisted the notifications of the media organization and displayed inaccurate information.

The latest beta version brings these AI summaries back with a new warning.

Before downloading the beta version and consulting these summaries, know that this beta version is not the final version of iOS 26. If you want to try the beta version, I recommend downloading it to a secondary device.

It is also possible that Apple can delete or modify this function further before the release of the final version of iOS 26 this fall.

IOS 26 beta warns against summary inaccuracies

When I updated the latest beta version of iOS 26, I was greeted by splash screens that requested various authorizations. A splash screen concerned the AI notification summaries. When you see this screen, you have two options: Choose notifications to summarize Or Not now. If you type Not nowThe Splash screen disappears.

If you type Choose notifications to summarize, You are taken to a new page where you will see three categories: news and entertainment, communication and social and all other applications. Tapping one of these categories allows notification summaries for applications in this category. Under the category of news and entertainment, there is a warning that is described in red if you type it.

“The summary can modify the meaning of the original title,” said the warning, adding: “Check the information”.

In the beta version, there is also a warning at the bottom of the screen as follows: “It is a beta functionality. Summiaries can contain errors.”

After relying on the categories you want, type Summarize the selected notifications At the bottom of your screen. If you have selected all categories, this button will read Summarize all notifications.

And if you don’t want these summaries, you can type Does not summarize the notifications. If you allow these summaries and do not like them, you can easily deactivate them. Here’s how.

How to deactivate AI notification summaries

1 and 1 Faucet Parameters.
2 Faucet Notifications.
3 and 3 Faucet Summarize notifications.
4 Press the Summarize notifications Top in the new menu.

You can also follow the above steps to reactivate AI notification summaries. You will also need to select the categories for which you want these summaries.

Do not forget, this feature is always in beta version so that it can be buggy, and Apple could modify or delete it when iOS 26 is released to the general public this fall. There is no final date for when Apple will publish iOS 26.
