In doing so, the IRGC intends to increase its knowledge of the spies working for the secret intelligence service of the United Kingdom, which could give a leverage to Iran before nuclear negotiations.

The body of the Islamic Revolution of Iran (IRGC) asked that the Taliban send them a disclosed list of Afghans who helped the United Kingdom during the presence of 20 years of NATO in Afghanistan, British outlet The telegraph reported on Monday.

According to the report, a senior Iranian official has confirmed The telegraph that the IRGC officially asked to share the list of leaks.

In doing so, the IRGC intends to increase its knowledge of the spies working for the secret intelligence service, commonly called MI6.

This can help grant an Iranian lever effect before nuclear negotiations with the E3 (United Kingdom, France and Germany) which should occur later this year, noted the report. The E3 threatened to restore the “snapback mechanism” on Iran’s sanctions if no progress is made in negotiations by August 30.

The “killing list” of the Taliban sought by the IRGC contains the names of the Afghans who applied for asylum, including soldiers for the administration supported by the United States, which the Taliban ousted in 2021. Some of these soldiers worked with the British army and were advantages of intelligence. We think that part of the people on the “killing list” fled to Iran for their own security when the Taliban took over.

An Afghan who would have been on the list was recently expelled from Iran to Kabul, The telegraph noted.

Taliban leaders also made the order to stop so many people named in the possible document in order to exert diplomatic pressure on the United Kingdom, added the report.

In addition, former Taliban members were evacuated to the United Kingdom after the document was disclosed by a Royal Marine in 2022, The telegraph revealed.

While they were transported by plane for their personal safety, some of the evacuated people included alleged jihadists, sex offenders, corrupt officials and people previously imprisoned by NATO forces, which raised concerns concerning the bad checks of the history and verification, added the report.

Iran uses allegations of espionage against Afghanistan as a pretext for arrests and mass deportations after the War of Israel-Iran in June, said the report, declaring that daily deportations increased from 2,000 to more than 30,000.
