His campaign was announced in a video published on X Monday afternoon. In the ad, Crockett was shown standing while Trump’s verbal jabs played in the background.

“And this news they have? Their new star, Crockett. And her? It’s the new star of the Democratic Party, Jasmine Crockett. They’re in big trouble,” Trump says in the video.

Someone said the other day that she was one of the leaders of the party. I said you were joking,” Trump’s audio continues.

“Oh man, oh man. He’s a very low IQ person…now they’re going to rely on Crockett. Crockett is going to bring them back.”

The ad was well received by X’s liberal commentators, who described it as a good start.

“Jasmine Crockett’s launch ad is awesome,” wrote Ed Krassenstein.

Jasmine Crockett is running for U.S. Senate and Republicans should be terrified,” said Democratic strategist Adam Parkhomenko. “She’s smart, fearless, relentless and she doesn’t back down from anyone. This is the game Texas deserves. Let’s go.”

On the other side of the political aisle, conservatives and critics reacted to the ad with mockery.

“I never thought I’d say this, but I agree with every word of this Jasmine Crockett ad,” wrote commenter Matt Walsh.

“A few months ago, it was reported that Jasmine Crockett’s phone lock screen was a photo of herself,” Republican operative Matt Wolking said. “Today, its launch ad continues the theme.”

Speaking at a campaign event in Texas on Monday, Crockett said “the gloves were off” and she was “jumping in the ring.”

“I am asking for your support to become the next United States senator from the greatest state of Texas,” she said.

“They tell us Texas is red. They lie, we don’t. The reality is most Texans aren’t going to vote.”

Crockett also said she made the decision to run after learning that “the numbers were strongest for my bid for the United States Senate.”

“I could have played it safe and continued to serve in the United States House of Representatives for as long as my constituents wanted, but I did not choose to do that because Texas, in the moment we find ourselves in, is a matter of life and death, and it’s all or nothing,” she said. “It’s now or never. We find ourselves at a crossroads.”

His campaign launch event took place in a lively atmosphere, including an impromptu performance by a musical artist named Cameron McCloud.

McCloud performed a rap song with the verse: “They only try to scare her by running ’cause they think she’s gonna win / Listen, I thought I told you we were never scared / Now look who’s name on the record / I got two words for every racist bigot, Jasmine Crockett.”
