JD Vance Learns in Real Time Trump Left Him Out of Iran Attack Plans

The White House’s plans to completely wipe out Iran are so haphazard that even the vice president can’t follow them.

JD Vance was apparently taken aback Tuesday when a reporter informed him that Donald Trump had threatened to wipe out all of Iranian civilization by 8 p.m. Vance was then on stage in Budapest, just steps away from Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán.

The exchange began when a Washington Post The reporter asked Vance if there had been any recent developments in the war that could inform a peace deal, the Daily Beast reported.

“I don’t do it, unless I have a text message from Steve Witkoff,” Vance said, referring to Trump’s Middle East envoy.

But as Vance pulled out his phone to check his notifications, it became clear that he was receiving an urgent notification from Witkoff.

“I have a message from Steve Witkoff,” Vance admitted awkwardly.

“Wouldn’t you like to know what this message is about?” “” Vance continued. “But no, uh, I have to read it first before talking about it. But here, here… uh, what time is it in the United States right now?”

This uncomfortable error became even more troubling when a Reuters reporter urged Vance to read carefully before speaking to the press about his apparently ill-informed analysis of the war.

“I think you need to read this because we have information that the United States is striking some targets on Kharg Island,” she said. “You said the military objectives of this war have been achieved. So could you help us understand why the president continues to threaten to attack every bridge and power plant in Iran?”

Kharg Island is an export hub off the coast of Iran that processes around 90% of the country’s crude oil exports. The United States struck Kharg Island in March, when U.S. Central Command claimed 90 targets on the island were hit, including “naval mine storage facilities, missile storage bunkers, and several other military sites.”

American officials said that they had struck the island again on Tuesday morning, while claiming that the United States had not hit any of the Kharg oil installations.

The attack came moments after Trump vowed that an “entire civilization would die tonight, never to be brought back” if Iran failed to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, another vital trade route for the region. Iran has so far rejected possible peace deals. Iranian media responded just after 9 a.m. ET, announcing through diplomatic channels that negotiations with the United States had stalled following Trump’s explicit threats. Shortly after, the international newspaper Tehran Timetable reported that the “diplomatic and indirect channels” were not closed after all.

Vance was supposedly on “standby” and ready to engage in peace talks with Iran if the moment presented itself, Policy reported Monday.

Nonetheless, Vance backed Trump’s explosive response to the rapidly evolving conflict Tuesday morning, telling the gathering in Budapest that he hopes Iran will provide the “right answer” while emphasizing America’s need for free-flowing oil.

“The president of the United States is a man who recognizes his influence,” Vance said. “If the Iranians want to demand a certain amount of pain, the United States has the capacity to demand much greater pain. »
