Jennifer Lawrence’s black ankle boots have a short square heel and appear to be crocodile embossed with a pointed toe, another witchy detail we love. While boot trends have been getting taller in recent years, plenty of ankle-height selections still made it onto our list of recs for this season.
In a recent profile in The New Yorker, Lawrence explained that since becoming a mother, she’s had to change her relationship to the paparazzi, which has had the bonus knock-on effect of giving us plenty of street style inspo. She recalled that during the height of her twenty-something fame, she was regularly stalked around Los Angeles, and that hiding out wouldn’t work once she became a mom. So she became accessible. “It’s better than the cat-and-mouse thing where I’m going into garages and my eyes are darting around and I wonder if someone’s chasing me,” she revealed. “I realized that my kids would be aware of my energy, and that, if I was nervous and pissed when we left the house, they would feel that in their little bodies.”
