Joe Burrow isn’t happy Bengals teammate didn’t get Pro Bowl nod

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow keeps going to bat for his team’s breakout players in the media.
And Burrow’s latest very public praise for a teammate comes with some annoyance about the Pro Bowl.

Speaking with reporters this week before the Bengals play the Arizona Cardinals, Burrow commented that he’s not happy that cornerback DJ Turner didn’t make the Pro Bowl.
“I thought DJ should have made the Pro Bowl,” Burrow said, according to Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com. “But I told him the other day, usually the first year that you should make it, you’re typically an alternate. If you stack that year, they give it to the next year. It happened to me, and you kind of see that across the league.”

It’s a little comment made in passing by Burrow, yet a notable one: The Bengals have a budding star on their hands with Turner.

Turner, a second-round pick by the Bengals in 2023, has fully blossomed into an every-down player for the Bengals on the boundary. It’s a boon for a franchise that has had the Cam Taylor-Britt experiment go the complete opposite direction.
And like Burrow says, if Turner keeps building on it, there’s a Pro Bowl spot in his future. And there’s probably a one-two punch with Dax Hill as outside boundary cornerbacks next year, too.
