The law professor at the University of George Washington, Jonathan Turley, expressed his shock on Monday to prison sentence grants the potential assassin of the partner of the Supreme Court, the Brett judge Kavanaugh.

The United States District Judge Deborah Boardman of the Maryland district, appointed by Biden, sentenced Nicholas Roske to just over eight years in prison on Friday, citing the fact that Roske identified as a transgender woman named Sophie as a reason for her decision. Turley said it was the “first time” that he would be aware of such a decision. (Related: Jonathan Turley says that Google Letter is a “justification” for scientists “prohibited and on blacklist”)

“Well, that was a difference,” Turley told the co-host of “America Reports” Sandra Smith and John Roberts. “You know, the federal laws on determining the sentence after a case called Booker no longer binds the federal judges, but the judges try to stay roughly in the same continent. This sentence seemed to come from a different planet. ”

“I mean, the minimum sentence recommended by the directives was 30 years. It was contained by around 22 years and the justification it used raised more concerns,” continued Turley. “As, one could understand that this person called the police, in the end. Obviously, he has mental problems. But this person also looked for how the death of justice could change the result of the business and said that he was going to shoot for three, but how to kill one could overturn the balance of a supreme court.”

Roske, who was armed with a pistol and a knife, was arrested in June 2022 near the Kavanaugh home after telling the police that he intended to kill the judge of the Supreme Court to give his life a “goal” according to a affidavit.

“It was a very premeditated act, it is therefore a very light sentence, then its justification that it might need treatment for its transformation or its gender procedures, is really unique,” said Turley. “And many of us really scratch our heads, she used it almost as if it was a start of the pain and it is the first time that I have seen it.”

The Attorney General Pam Bondi said that the Ministry of Justice would appeal the conviction in an article on Friday on X.
