Honolulu prepares for tsunami after 8.8 magnitude earthquake off Russia | Hawaii

Tsunami’s warning sirens took Honolulu while the emergency department called for the evacuation of certain coastal areas after a powerful 8.8 magnitude earthquake struck the Kamchatka peninsula, the East East of Russia.
“Act! The waves of destructive Tsunami expected,” said the Honolulu Ministry of Emergency Management in an article on social networks.
The massive earthquake struck on Wednesday, generating a tsunami from up to 4 meters (13 feet), damaging buildings and causing evacuation warnings in the region and most of the east coast of Japan, officials said. It was initially listed as a magnitude of 8.7 but was then reassessed by the USGS at 8.8.
The American tsunami warning system issued a “dangerous tsunami waves” warning in the next three hours, and a watch was also in force for the territory of the American island of Guam and other micronesia islands.
The Pacific Tsunami warning center said that waves of 1 to 3 meters above the tide were possible along certain coastal areas of Hawaii, Chile, Japan and the Solomon Islands. Waves of more than 3 meters were possible along certain coastal areas of Russia and Ecuador.
An updated card of warnings, opinions and watches in Tsunami can be found on a card on the website of the American Tsunami alert system. From this PT at 7 pm, the entire west coast of the United States and British Columbia is under a “opinion of tsunami”, which asks residents to “stay out of the water and far from the beaches and sailors”, and to monitor the instructions of the local authorities.
The San Francisco Ministry of Emergency Management issued a warning and said that it was working with public security agencies to determine whether the evacuation of coastal areas would be necessary.
In Huntington Beach, California, the rescuers and the police asked people to leave the beaches, which would remain closed when Tsunami’s warning was in force. No evacuation warning was in force, displayed the fire service.
