‘Just A’ja being A’ja’: Aces’ Wilson makes WNBA history with 30-20 double-double | Las Vegas Aces

A’ja Wilson scored 32 points and equaled a career summit with 20 rebounds to become the first player in the history of the WNBA with more than 30 points and at least 20 rebounds in a match while the AC of Las Vegas beat the Connecticut Sun 94-86 on Sunday evening.
The most useful three-time league player, including last season, Wilson posted his third double-double in the last four games and the third consecutive outing with at least 27 points. With 36 seconds remaining in the match, she caught her 20th table to match the personal record she set in July 2024 in Seattle. His Las Vegas teammates led the crowd at home applause for the CAP.
“It’s just a Ja being a’ja,” said Aces coach Becky Hammon. “She could probably have had one in the past. I never really let her go to offensive glass this year, where we highlighted this more. ”
Las Vegas granted 31 points in the first quarter, then 14 other less than five minutes in the second period to late on 45-33. But they gathered, holding the Connecticut (5-25) without a point for the next 5:45 am during a 12-0 race to pull the scoring even at halftime. Defensive tenacity took place in the second half. Las Vegas made so many points in the second and third quarters combined as they allowed in the opening period, in the process, overthrowing the deficit of two -digit points at a point point with two figures by the end of the third.
“It’s huge,” said Wilson. “I didn’t even know, as many big as we did in this league, it’s a bit of shock that it happens. It is a blessing. I love what I do. I love what I do. I love her so much, so every time I can go out and play basketball as I like it, and the team, and we all get involved – I’m happy with that. “
Wilson’s heroism has strengthened the AS one day when three of the five starters failed to score more than seven points. Jackie Young was the exception with 21 points out of 9 of the 14 pulling ground. Young also called for six assists to match the total of Chelsea Gray. Jewell Loyd and Dana Evans helped collect part of the offensive relaxation with 12 and 10 points on the bench.
The defeat dropped Connecticut at 0-3 on their current road swing, which ends Monday in San Francisco against Golden State.
