Kamala Harris says she ‘possibly’ could run for president again

Former Vice President Kamala Harris said she may run for the White House again in the future.
“I’m not done,” Harris told the BBC on Saturday, saying she could “maybe” still be president one day, suggesting she was considering a third bid for the White House.
“I’ve lived my entire career as a life of service and it’s in my bones,” she said.
Harris lost the 2024 election to Donald Trump after President Joe Biden withdrew from the race just 107 days before Election Day.
In her campaign memoir, titled “107 Days,” Harris indicated that she would not run for high office in the near future, suggesting that it is not possible to change the system from within.
“I will no longer be sitting in Washington in the grandeur of the ceremonial office. I will be with the people, in the cities and communities where I can listen to their ideas on how we rebuild trust, empathy and a government worthy of the ideals of this country,” she wrote.
But Harris told the BBC that her young nieces would see a female president “in their lifetime, for sure”, and asked if it could be her, she replied: “Maybe.”
Asked about polls that show her as an underdog to win a potential Democratic primary, she said: “There are all kinds of polls that will tell you a variety of things. I’ve never listened to polls.”
“I definitely wouldn’t be sitting here,” she added.
Harris also said Trump was a “tyrant” during the interview, and said predictions she made about the likely impact of his administration during his campaign had come true.
In July, Harris denied speculation that she might run for governor of California, saying she had “given serious thought” to the matter, but “after careful consideration, I have decided that I will not run for governor in this election.”
“For now, my leaders – and the civil service – will not be elected,” she said at the time.
