Failed presidential candidate Kamala Harris struggled to explain to left-leaning ABC late-night host Jimmy Kimmel why Joe Biden’s Justice Department never attempted to release documents related to convicted sex offender Jeffery Epstein. Harris insisted it was deemed crucial to maintain “absolute separation” between the Biden administration and the DoJ.

“To give you an answer that won’t satisfy your curiosity, I’m going to tell you that we, perhaps to our detriment, but we strongly and rightly believed that there should be an absolute separation between what we wanted as an administration and what the Department of Justice did. We absolutely bought into that and it was right to do so,” Harris told Kimmel.

“The Department of Justice would make its decisions regardless of any political or personal vendetta or concerns we might have and that’s how it would work,” she added.

Harris’ response quickly inflamed left-wing pundits and social media personalities, who wanted the Biden White House to use the Epstein files as a weapon against then-candidate Trump. There is an equal cacophony of laughter in conservative pockets of social media, with many posts highlighting what Breitbart editor-in-chief Alex Marlow noted in his New York Times bestseller Breakup THE Law, according to which “there is clear evidence that there was collusion by the Joe Biden White House” in the anti-Trump cases against Trump and the Biden DoJ.

Harris suggested that Trump could block the DoJ from releasing the full documents, as they are expected to do on Friday, and praised Republican lawmakers “who stood up to demand the release of the file.”

The lengthy interview began with Kimmel asking Harris to tell the now-well-known story of how her husband forgot to give her a birthday present during the 2024 campaign. A few minutes, and lots of laughter later, Kimmel asked, “After the election, did you and Doug start drinking?”

“Let me just say we definitely, uh, it took a while,” Harris said.

Kimmel then asked Biden a few questions. Harris said she hadn’t spoken to the former president in “about three or four weeks.” Asked if she thought Biden and his team did everything they could to help her win the election, Harris said she didn’t get the support she needed from “certain places in the administration.”

Kimmel then turned his attention to President Donald Trump, asking Harris if it was hypocritical that so much attention was devoted to Biden’s aging and his mental state by people who will no longer criticize Trump for appearing to fall asleep during meetings.

“You think.” Harris said to rowdy laughter from Kimmel and the live studio audience.

The discussion devolved into a therapy session from there, with both men taking turns insulting Trump while figuring out the best way to deal with his return to power.
