‘I Go To Mosques’: Jeffries Again Dodges Mamdani Questions In Rambling Answer About Socialist Candidate

The Democrat Manager of Hakeem Jeffries continued to circumvent questions on the reasons for which he did not approve the socialist admitted to Zohran Mamdani on Thursday to serve the next mayor of New York despite the candidate who presents himself in the general electoral competition under the banner of the Democratic Party.
Jeffries, who represents a district that Mamdani will supervise if the elected mayor, said that his voters had not asked him to support the Democratic socialist before rejecting a series of questions about what the New Yorkers of his Brooklyn district think of the mayor’s candidate. Jeffries’ continuous efforts to create a distance between him and Mamdani intervene while some power players from the Democratic Party get impatted on him dragging his feet by approving the socialist’s campaign. “I do not know,” said Jeffries when he was asked if the main democrat of the Chamber was disconnected from his party for not having approved the Democratic candidate to the mayor. “I guess people will have to understand this – if this is the question you think my voters are asking me because they are not.”

Mamdani won an important part of the voters of the Brooklyn Jeffries district during his surprise victory against the former Democratic Governor of New York Andrew Cuomo in the Democratic primary competition. Jeffries met Mamdani twice since he obtained the appointment of the Democratic Party, but repeatedly refused to publicly apply for his candidacy.
New York Democratic Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Left Left Left of the Democratic Party who was launched as presidential candidate in 2028, criticized Jeffries for retaining approval on Wednesday. The far left legislator noted that she had approved former President Joe Biden in 2020 despite his objections to some of his political posts.
“I believe that we must give an example of supporting the party candidate, because that complicates-if an individual does not want to support the party candidate now, that complicates his ability to ask the voters to support a candidate later, whether the town hall, the presidential election, what have you,” said Ocasio-Cortez.

Jeffries also closed attempts on Thursday to assess what his voters think of Mamdani, telling journalists that they should talk to the New Yorkers themselves to discover it.
“I think you will have to ask them [about Mamdani]”Said Jeffries.” I don’t hide my voters. »»
“I’m going to the mosques,” said Jeffries. “I go to the synagogues. I go to black baptist churches. I go to senior centers. I’m on the street. I am in the parks. “
On Wednesday, the DNC publicly supported Mamdani’s candidacy in an article on the social media platform X. The Democrat entity included a Mamdani clip welcoming skeptics to support its mayor campaign.
“We are delighted with anyone to join this movement,” said Mamdani in an interview with the podcast “I got it”. “We do not ask them where they were or why they have not yet joined each other. We welcome them. “
Jeffries has so far not adopted Mamdani’s offer to support his campaign. The main Democrat in the Chamber told journalists to “listen” to find out if he will approve of the avowed socialist who had previously called to finance the police.
“New Yorkers are not shy,” said Jeffries Thursday despite his distance from taking a clear position on Mamdani. “And so it is very easy to understand what people can think of the situation and I greet them.”
