Las Vegas will host the draw for the World Cup in 2026 on December 5, in several reports, the sphere is strongly reinforced to serve as a ceremonial site for the extended tournament of 48 teams.

Sources have told ESPN that Vegas had been selected after potential sites in Canada and that Mexico were excluded for the draw, which will determine the 12 groups of four nations participating in the male world cup of first 48 teams, jointly organized by the United States, Canada and Mexico.

Pedro Cedillo, a Pachuca leader defending the World Cup training camps in Mexico, confirmed to ESPN that he expected the draw will be held in Las Vegas. “I understand that it will be in Las Vegas, and that’s where we have to be present,” he said.

In 1994, when the United States hosted the World Cup for the last time, the draw was also staged in Las Vegas, although it was not a host city city, a scenario that will repeat itself in 2026.

The sphere, a place of 17,500 places which opened its doors in 2023 and has a 54,000 square meter LED screen, is the main candidate to organize the event, although the official confirmation has not yet been made. The Las Vegas Convention Center, the 1994 draw, is not available for this year.
