Liquor store owner arrested after guns, cocaine found in shop

The owner of a Westchester liquor store was arrested over the weekend when two loaded guns and cocaine were found in the store during a search.
Police requested a search warrant after receiving a tip that Amir Babiker, the owner of Amir’s Wine & Spirits in New Rochelle, was selling cocaine out of the store.
During a search on the afternoon of Oct. 24, detectives discovered a 9 mm semi-automatic pistol, a .32-caliber double-shot derringer and approximately 21 grams of packaged cocaine ready to be sold on the street, New Rochelle Police Capt. J. Collins Coyne said in a news release Monday.
Babiker, 28, was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance, criminal possession of a firearm, criminal possession of stolen property and misdemeanor criminal possession of a controlled substance.
Coyne said the derringer was reported stolen in Columbia County in 2014.
The suspect faces up to 25 years in prison for drug offenses. He was released after his arraignment on Saturday.
