Mamdani Hears About It After Disgustingly Making St. Patrick’s Day About Israel-Hamas War – RedState

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani is one of the most singularly focused Democratic politicians I’ve seen in a long time. He often turns anything, any unrelated news event, any public appearance, into a discussion about the so-called “Palestinian cause” and how Israel and, by extension, America, are allegedly committing “genocide” against Hamas (and Hezbollah) terrorists who want to literally wipe the Jewish people and their Western allies off the map.
We saw it, for example, on the weekend of March 7-8, when Mamdani’s first words about the attempted terrorist attack by two adult teenagers – who the Justice Department said were inspired by ISIS – against anti-Mamdani protesters this weekend at Gracie Mansion, were to condemn… Islamophobia.
“This was a despicable protest rooted in white supremacy called ‘Stop the Islamic Takeover of New York City,'” Mamdani proclaimed. “I am our city’s first Muslim mayor. Anti-Muslim intolerance is not new to me, nor to the million New Yorkers who know this city as home,” he continued, making only a passing reference to the attack itself, during which IEDs were thrown.

Tuesday was St. Patrick’s Day. What did Mamdani do? He immediately spoke about the so-called “genocide” in Gaza, while praising former Irish President Mary Robinson, who appears to share the Big Apple mayor’s views on the subject:
Mayor Zohran Mamdani on Tuesday compared the plight of the Irish to “genocide” in Palestine – as he used the St Patrick’s Day celebration to break the “deafening silence of so many” over the war between Israel and Hamas.
The democratic socialist dropped the Gaza-related remarks as he hosted former Irish President Mary Robinson for breakfast at the Gracie Mansion to kick off the Big Apple’s annual St. Patrick’s Day festivities.
[…]Hizzoner then praised Robinson, who was the first female president to lead Ireland in the 1990s, for her human rights record and history of support for the Palestinian people.
“I say this because over the past few years, as we have witnessed genocide unfolding before our eyes, there has been a deafening silence from so many people,” he said.
“For those who have long cared about universal human rights and their extension to Palestinians, however, silence is nothing new, because Palestinians are so often left to mourn alone. Yet former President Robinson never remained silent.”

Needless to say, his comments were not well received.
“70% of New York Jews did not vote for Zohran Mamdani. Now the rest of the city lives with a mayor who turns every holiday into a platform to attack the Jewish state in the city with the largest Jewish community outside of Israel,” noted author/Substacker Samantha Ettus.

“New Yorkers are asking: What does all this have to do with St. Patrick’s Day?” another X user wondered:

Rabbi El’hanan Poupko was not amused either:
“Resistance” is the same word he and his friends use to refer to the monstrous kidnappers and baby killers in Gaza who carried out the October 7 atrocities.
Mamdani must [an apology] to both the Irish and Jewish community of New York.
@ZohranKMamdaniThe cynical use of St. Patrick’s Day and the Irish American community to invoke “resistance” is shameful.

Mayor Mamdani’s repeated use of the accusation of “genocide” against Israel is not only wrong: it is dangerous. This distorts reality and fuels anti-Semitism at a time when Jews are already under threat.⁰⁰Leaders who claim to defend human rights should not use rhetoric that…

“Let’s leave it to the mayor of New York to turn St. Patrick’s Day into an anti-Semitic attack,” observed Sen. Rick Scott (R-FL). “This guy is a disgrace.”
That’s an understatement if I’ve ever heard one.
Editor’s Note: New York City is now facing the consequences of the socialist takeover by pro-Hamas Mayor Zohran Mamdani.
