Man accused of firing machine gun on NYC street after drug robbery, killing 69-year-old bystander

New York – An 18 -year -old man was arrested Thursday for federal accusations alleging that he had drawn a machine gun in a street in New York, causing death by a woman.
Do McCants was to appear before a magistrate judge on Friday. New York federal defenders did not immediately respond to a message asking for comments.
American lawyer Jay Clayton said in a statement that McCants and two accomplices stole back backpacks containing marijuana to a drug trafficker on August 27 in the middle of the day. Then McCants would have shot the weapon from his sweatshirt and shot the man who had been stolen, killing the passerby. The police identified her as Robin Wright.
“The death of this fully innocent spectator, a 69 -year -old woman who was only held with her walker on the sidewalk at East Harlem, is as tragic as it is insane,” said Clayton.
Police commissioner Jessica Tisch said the victim was a grandmother and a beloved member of the community.
McCants was accused of theft and possession and use of a machine gun. The accusation of weapons leads to a potential minimum of 30 years in prison and a maximum of life.
The NYPD and Homeland Security surveys joined the investigation.
