Left-Wing Karen Says She Reported TPUSA Chapter To Child Protective Services

A woman opposing the formation of a chapter of Turning Point USA (TPUSA) in Calvert County, Maryland, told the county school board Thursday that she reported the chapter to Child Protective Services.
The woman, identified at the meeting as Nancy Krause, described herself as a retired nurse who said she made the report, saying Calvert County Club America excluded adults who were not volunteers from a Dec. 17 event featuring two Calvert County School Board members. The president of the TPUSA-affiliated group, a Calvert County Public Schools student, addressed the board, offering to discuss concerns members might have. “Good evening, all of you. I am a student in Calvert County Public Schools, and also president of the Calvert County Club America, which is affiliated with the Turn Point USA chapter. It is not affiliated with Calvert County Public Schools, it is separate and not politically involved in a partisan way, and we cannot support any candidate or party,” the organization’s chapter president told the board before Krause’s speech. “We invited the board to discuss what they are doing and their policies. All students present were present with parental permission and all announced publicly. However, we received a lot of hate and posted online that we would not allow any adults who were not volunteers or parents.”

Krause appeared to ignore what was said when she spoke immediately after the Club America leader addressed the board in his remarks.
“Turning Point USA hosted an event for students. While community building opportunities for students are important, this event raises serious concerns regarding student safety, parental rights and governance oversight. Documents indicated that parents or guardians were not permitted to attend,” Krause said. “Excluding parents or guardians from a student-focused event lacks transparency, and school-affiliated joint activities should have oversight standards, background check requirements, and accountability structures. I am also concerned about a potential conflict of interest involving school board members serving as guest speakers at this event. They have responsibilities, and participation events targeting students, especially when parental access is restricted, warrant careful review to ensure compliance with the school’s policies district, ethics guidelines and public trust obligations.”
“Students are widely recognized as a vulnerable population. They are at critical developmental stages and are susceptible to influence, and transparency is essential,” Krause continued. “All members of the board of directors present in this room are [mandatory reporters] under state law, as I am. Given the circumstances surrounding this event, a report was made to child protection services. All of this was provided.
Since the September 10 assassination of TPUSA founder Charlie Kirk, the conservative student organization has received more than 100,000 requests to create chapters in high schools and colleges. Despite strong student interest, the creation of sections in secondary and post-secondary institutions has been met with resistance from teachers and administrators.
Students and left-wing groups protested the creation of a TPUSA chapter in Royal Oak, Michigan, with a walkout and comments at a November 13 school board meeting. Officials in Prince William County, Virginia, have come under fire after trying to block the creation of a TPUSA chapter at a local high school. Tyler Bowyer, chief operating officer of TPUSA, reposted a video of Krause’s comments and commented on his remarks.
“Turning Point is the most attacked independent organization in America,” Bowyer said. “The government has been used as a weapon against us, radicals trying to vilify us, and all kinds of disgusting insults since Charlie’s murder. We know it’s because our work has such an impact.”
