McDonald’s Brings Extra Value Meals Back to Menu

McDonald’s has announced that it is bringing back Extra Value Meals beginning September 8.
The company is offering limited-time pricing that includes a $5 Sausage McMuffin With Egg meal (with hash browns and a small coffee) and an $8 Big Mac meal (with medium World Famous Fries and a medium soft drink).
McDonald’s framed the move as a broader push to restore lower price points across its menus after rolling out McValue and other promotions earlier this year.
Why It Matters
Fast-food chains are facing pressure from higher commodity costs, with many U.S. consumers remaining sensitive to food prices and broader cost-of-living constraints.
Earlier this year, some restaurant chains introduced an egg surcharge amid supply shortages. Now, wholesale beef prices are seeing record highs and may keep pressure on burger prices across the industry.

What To Know
McDonald’s listed eight entrees that qualified for Extra Value Meals across breakfast, lunch and dinner: Sausage McMuffin With Egg; Sausage Egg & Cheese McGriddles; Egg McMuffin; Bacon, Egg and Cheese Biscuit; Big Mac; 10-piece Chicken McNuggets; any Quarter Pounder variety; and any McCrispy Sandwich variety.
The company said the Extra Value Meals would save customers about 15 percent compared with purchasing the entree, fries and a drink separately.
McDonald’s said more price‑pointed offers were planned for later in the year, including $5 Sausage, Egg and Cheese McGriddles and an $8 10‑piece Chicken McNuggets meal in November. It also said a Snack Wrap would be available for $2.99 through the end of the year.
What People Are Saying
Joe Erlinger, the president of McDonald’s USA, said in a news release: “McDonald’s USA is laser-focused on delivering value and affordability for our customers, and I’m incredibly proud of how our franchisees and teams continue to step up to make it a reality. From the $5 Meal Deal to McValue and now Extra Value Meals, we’re sending a clear message: we’re here for our customers. McDonald’s will always be a place where you can get the food you love at a price that fits your life.”
Danielle Marasco, a McDonald’s owner/operator and the chair of the National Franchisee Leadership Alliance, said: “Bringing back Extra Value Meals reflects the company and franchisees’ shared commitment to offering everyday affordable prices.”
What Happens Next
McDonald’s said it planned to use the Extra Value Meals and additional promotions to boost visits and counter the effects of elevated food and labor costs. The company encouraged customers to download its app for exclusive offers and local deals.
Separately, McDonald’s continued to roll out other menu promotions this season, including a TinyTAN (BTS) Happy Meal collaboration and a limited‑edition Special Edition Gold Sauce for select chicken items, both announced in August.
