Bay County, Florida (WMBB) – Mexico Beach honors lost life on September 11. Firefighters and community members participated in the annual ceremony on September 11 this morning.

They started walking around the Town Hall at 7:46 a.m., the same time when the first airliner struck the northern tower of the World Trade Center. They continued to walk until 8:59 am, when the first tower fell.

Then they gathered at the mast for a prayer led by the chaplain, after which the firefighters lowered the flag to half of the staff.

Mexico BEACH FIRE RESCUE sounded his emergency sirens three times as an evacuation call, then carefully lowered the flag of their fire truck.

They perpetuate this tradition to never forget the lost lives that day.

“Every day, there is a stranger. And these guys went to do their job. And unfortunately for them and many of their families, they did not come back. It is therefore important that we remember not only firefighters, but of all the people who have just worked that day a normal day.

Mexico BEACH FIRE Rescue has nine full -time firefighters and six part -time firefighters.

They temporarily operate outside the public works department, with plans for a new fire station soon.
