Minneapolis ICE Surge Will End When Every Single Criminal Illegal Alien Is Apprehended – RedState

Border Patrol Commanding General and Acting Executive Associate Greg Bovino. Real. for ICE ERO, Marcos Charles held a press conference Sunday afternoon, around the same time that Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and Attorney General Keith Ellison continued to escalate the situation at their own press conference. (Bovino’s presser was scheduled first, then Walz scheduled his and started it about a minute before Bovino; what about cooperation and coordination?)

A local Minneapolis reporter asked Bovino: “People in Minnesota want to know when this surge will end. Has a date been set? Are there a certain number of people you want to apprehend before deciding to dampen the tide?

They won’t like Bovino’s answer.

“We continue to apprehend dozens, if not hundreds, of these criminal illegal aliens every day. We are going to continue to carry out this mission. We are not going to set a date or timetable to stop this mission. This mission continues until there are no more of these criminal illegal aliens roaming the streets of Minneapolis.”

The journalist continued by asking: “But there is a number? You have to have a file…”

To which Bovino responded succinctly: “There are a number of them, and we call it “all.”

At this point, Charles announced that more than 3,400 illegal aliens had been arrested since Operation Metro Surge began, stating:

“We are here to arrest dangerous illegal alien criminals so they can no longer victimize innocent people in our communities. Since this operation began, we have arrested three out of 3,400 illegal aliens… These are criminals who will not reoffend in our communities.”

In addition to criminal illegal aliens, federal agents apprehended the loser who bit off an ICE agent’s finger Saturday.

Bovino declined to make definitive statements on the details of Saturday’s shooting, citing the ongoing investigation, and reminded the gathered reporters and the general public that while they have the luxury of analyzing the videos frame by frame after the fact from a warm, safe home or office, the officer or officers involved had to make a split-second decision.

Echoing what Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche pointed out during an appearance on “Meet the Press,” Bovino said, “We’ve seen the consequences of the inflammatory rhetoric” coming from people like Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey and Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison on Saturday.

“When politicians, community leaders and some journalists engage in this heated rhetoric that we keep talking about, they make the choice to vilify law enforcement… using the term kidnapping. Actions and consequences flow from those choices.”

He also made a point of recognizing the right to assemble and protest, but said this should be done remotely for the safety of everyone involved.
