Montana Legislature Passes TikTok Ban

“We have no illusions that this will not be challenged“” Montana Attorney General Austin Knudsen told New York Times in a recent interview. “I think it is the next border of the first amendment jurisprudence that will probably come from the United States Supreme Court. And I think that’s probably where it is about. ”
Brooke Oberwetter, spokesperson for Tiktok, criticized the supporters of the bill to have “no possible plan to operationalize” which she described as a “attempted censorship of American voices”.
“We will continue to fight for users and creators of Tiktok in Montana whose livelihoods and the rights of the first amendment are threatened by this exaggerated exaggerated government,” Oberwetter told Buzzfeed News.
For years, American decision -makers and legislators have examined Tiktok data sharing and confidentiality practices due to the concerns that his parent company is controlled by the Chinese government. And last year, the social media company confirmed an explosive Buzzfeed News report that the Beijing engineers had accessed American user data.
During a recent hearing, the members of the Congress have toasted the CEO of Tiktok, Shou Zi, to chew these questions, because they consider legislation which prohibits the platform and would give the government the power to prohibit technologies considered as a risk of national security.
