Trump Pausing Child Care Payments to All States, Not Just MN, Pending Records Reviews – RedState

Following explosive fraud allegations in Minnesota and, now, Washington state, the Trump administration is freezing child care payments in all states pending a review of recipient data by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).
According to HHS spokesperson Andrew Nixon, all funding recipients are required to send data to HHS for review; recipients who are not suspected of fraudulent activity only need to submit “administrative data”, but recipients who are suspected of fraudulent activity are required to submit additional records:
Nixon said recipients of federal funds in Minnesota and those “suspected of fraudulent activity” must provide HHS with additional documentation that includes “attendance records, licenses, inspection and monitoring reports, complaints and investigations.”
“It’s the state’s responsibility to make sure that those funds, those federal dollars, those taxpayer dollars, are used for legitimate purposes,” Nixon told ABC News.
In a separate statement to the New York Post, Nixon said:
“HHS has a clear duty to verify the proper use of taxpayer funds. The documentation process exists to rule out fraud and confirm that funds support legitimate child care providers. These requirements help ensure the integrity of the program and protect both families and providers.
According to Nixon, until individual state-level allocations can be verified, no additional funding will be disbursed.
With investigations underway in the state since May and nearly two dozen indictments already returned, independent journalist Nick Shirley’s viral video documenting numerous taxpayer-funded “learning” centers serving no children has focused national attention on the scandal.
The first indictment for fraud in the context of an autism program dates back to September: the loss amounted to 14 million dollars.
The defendant pleaded guilty on December 18 and is cooperating.
The US Attorney spoke about it during his televised press conference the same day and announced a second indictment – loss of $6 million –… https://t.co/j0gdJnuNSk

Cam Higby, another independent journalist, has documented similar problems in Washington state.

I went to the address listed for “Hilowle Safia Daycare” in Kent, WA. Residents say there is no daycare here.

In a Truth Social article, President Trump suggested that investigations and indictments will head to California, where RedState has reported pandemic unemployment fraud estimated at nearly $60 billion at last count, and where our ongoing investigation into federally funded child care (which will be released in January) suggests similar fraudulent schemes are afoot. Trump said: “There is more FRAUD in California than in Minnesota, if that is even possible. »
It is very possible, Mr. President.
Happy New Year and let the sunshine in.
