Navy ship that crashed into Brooklyn Bridge heads back to Mexico
It has been almost five months that a Mexican navy ship crashed in the Brooklyn bridge.
On Saturday, the ship began his return home in Mexico. Hundreds of people welcomed the Cuauhtemoc crew before the departure of Pier 86’s ship near the intrepid.
It was on May 17 that the ship fell on the Brooklyn bridge. Two sailors were killed.
The damaged ship was then towed to a shipyard of Staten Island for repairs and finished sea trials on Friday.

According to the South Street Seaport Museum, the ship was built in Spain in 1981. Since the Mexican navy acquired it, 31 generations of officers have graduated from its bridges. It is a piece of history and an emblem of resilience.
