Netflix will start showing traditional broadcast channels next summer


In a decision that further intensifies the reflection of the cable sector which he kills slowly, Netflix will start to display the broadcast channels next summer.
The largest streaming supplier in the world has announced today that from next year, all Netflix subscribers in France will be able to watch TF1 Group’s broadcasting channels, the largest commercial diffuser in France, which also has streaming services and creates content. Financial Times (FT) said that users will be able to watch the five TF1 linear channels.
French Netflix customers will also have access to “more than 30,000 hours” of TF1 content on demand in the summer of 2026, FT reported. TF1 content selection includes scripted dramas, reality TV shows such as The voiceand live sports.
Before this announcement, Netflix and TF1 were already “creative partners”, according to Netflix, and co -produced titles like The fightersa French historical mini-series whose title is reflected in War women.
Companies have not disclosed the financial details of the agreement.
Improbable savior of traditional media
In a press release, Netflix CO-PDG, Greg Peters, underlined the TF1 agreement as an engine of subscribers’ engagement, an objective that Netflix will increasingly highlight with investors following its recent decision to stop sharing the number of subscribers. Netflix claims to have “more” of 300 million subscribers.
“By teaming up with the main French broadcaster, we will provide French consumers even more reasons to come to Netflix every day and stay with us for all their entertainment,” said Peters.
Meanwhile, TF1 earning advertising opportunities, because the advertisements showed by its channels will probably attract more eyeballs in the form of Netflix subscribers.
