New Jersey Chick-fil-A shooting leaves multiple injured; police investigating

A shooting broke out inside a New Jersey Chick-fil-A Saturday night, leaving several people injured after a group of men burst in, went behind the food counter and opened fire, according to reports.

The horror happened shortly before 9 p.m. on the fast food chain’s Route 22 in Union, which has since been locked down with some workers believed to still be inside while Union County police investigate the scene, WABC and CBS New York reported.

A man who said his girlfriend worked at the restaurant told CBS that a group of masked men charged inside and fired several shots after forcing their way behind the counter.

A family member of an employee said an altercation broke out and several workers were shot and injured.

“I heard the gunshots,” a Lyft driver told WABC.

“When I finish the trip, I go to Chick-fil-A to buy two hamburgers – I see the police, I heard the gunshots very close.”

The father of one worker described the scene as a “war zone.”

It is not known how many people were injured or if there were any casualties.

A large police presence remains on scene, with officers canvassing the parking lot and cordoning off the area.

Authorities have not provided any details about the shooting.

The Union County Prosecutor’s Office would be in charge of the investigation.

The prosecutor’s office and Chick-fil-A did not immediately respond to The Post’s request for comment.

The investigation is ongoing.
