A New Jersey man who survived an early morning crash on the New Jersey Turnpike was killed by a passing car once he exited his vehicle early Monday.
New Jersey State Police said Albert R. Masonius, of Keyport, was fatally struck by an SUV in South Brunswick around 4 a.m., according to NJ.com.
The victim was reportedly involved in a five-car wreck in which his vehicle hit a minivan after being struck by another automobile. Cops said Masonius’ car was rendered disabled in the center lane of the Turnpike’s inner roadway by the chain reaction.
Two motorists in a Honda SUV were also injured in the multi-car crash.
It’s not clear if the driver of the SUV that killed Masonius has been been identified or questioned by authorities. State troopers did not immediately responded to a request for comment.
