New Jersey school district considers later start for some students

A school district of New Jersey is considering an hour at the start of 9 a.m. which will allow students to sleep a little more before starting their day.
A proposal reported by NJ.com said that the prices of the four elementary schools in Pleasantville could start 10 minutes later than their current departure time at 8:50 am as part of a change that would allow the Pleasantville high school to ring the opening bell at 8:45 am instead of 7:45 a.m.
The biggest schedule change would allow the Collège de Pleasingville to start classifying at 8:30 am instead of 8:05 am when the students return on September 4.
The video of a community meeting obtained by Fox 29 has shown that some parents complaining that making students at school at a later time could complicate questions for working parents. The proposal was discussed during a meeting of the school board of August 12, according to NJ.com.
The proposal was not confirmed. Supporters of the idea believe that a later hour could make students more productive.
The united teachers’ federation calls on the school day to start at 8 a.m. in New York. The last bell can come as late as 4:20 p.m. for high school students.
