Naperville is launching a new eBill portal for utility payments after its current vendor announced earlier this year that it was discontinuing its software.

Residents need to enroll in the new system before Jan. 1 to maintain uninterrupted eBill services, city officials said.

The city opted for a new online portal offered by its existing print bill vendor. Officials said using the same vendor for paper and electronic bills would be a more seamless and consistent billing experience for its 65,000 utility customers.

Residents can enroll in the eBill portal at www.naperville.il.us/ebill-login.

“The new portal offers practical improvements that will make online billing easier than ever for Naperville customers,” Naperville Finance Director Raymond Munch said in a news release. “The updates reflect customer feedback, and we’re excited to deliver a more user-friendly system.”

The upgraded system replaces the current portal on Jan. 1. Utility account numbers and billing cycles will remain the same, city officials said.

Anyone who uses the current eBill system will have to enroll in the new portal to continue paperless billing or they will receive paper bills. The old eBill system is being deactivated so automatic payments will not be processed.

Paper billing customers can choose to enroll at any time to take advantage of online access and eco-friendly billing, city officials said.

The new portal will offer a simplified, user-friendly design, an expanded billing history and a layout that makes account details easier to understand, city officials said.
