NFL Analyst Pumps Brakes on Hype Around QB Jayden Daniels

🎙️ The voice is generated by AI. Inconsistencies can occur.
Last season, Jayden Daniels broke out on the stage for Washington commanders after being drafted No. 2 in total. While many are ready to crown the next great thing at him, an analyst thinks that things are given him a little too early.
When a team writes such a high quarter, they hope that it can be a pillar for the franchise for the years to come. Washington did not have to wait a long time to see Daniels proving himself, when he set up one of the best recruited campaigns of a QB in the history of the league. While browsing his first year in the pros, he almost helped commanders reach the Super Bowl. They managed a pair of upheavals in the playoffs, but their race ended against the Eagles of Philadelphia in the conference championship.
After its impressive performance last year, the media threw around Daniels went through the roof. Many have already nicknamed it one of the best QB in the league, and the league staff tend to agree. In the latest ESPN survey of the top ten quarters of the NFL, Daniels arrived at No. 5. Some of the players he finished just ahead include Matthew Stafford, Justin Herbert and Jalen Hurts.

While appearing on First Take earlier this week, Peter Schrager gave his opinion on the crowned of Daniels a top-five QB after a single season. He feels that such an honor is a little premature, and he wants to see a little more than the star of the commanders before putting it in this conversation.
“I think he had the biggest recruit season that we have ever seen by a quarter of the NFL history and he brought his team to the NFC championship match,” said Schrage. “I would like to see the body of work. I know that if you are a fan of Jayden or a fan of commanders, you roll your eyes … Give it another year before putting it in this conversation.”

Daniels has loft expectations before the second year, but the parts are in place so that he continues to go up for a superstar talent. Commanders have improved the distribution of talent around him to ensure that he avoids infamous in the second year. If Washington is able to bring Terry McLaurin back to the fold, the second year QB will have everything he needs to support the whole buzz around him.
Daniels will officially start to accelerate the 2025 campaign next week when the commanders’ veterans come to the training camp.
