No. 10 Miami digs in late, tops No. 6 Notre Dame 27-24 in a thriller – Chicago Tribune

Miami Gardens, Florida – Miami had not beat a top -10 team for almost eight years. The opponent that night was Notre Dame.
It happened on Sunday evening – and once again, at Notre Dame.
Carter Davis made a basket of 47 yards with 1:04 to play for the green light score, Carson Beck launched for 205 yards and two affected during its beginnings in Miami, and the Hurricanes classified in 10th row beat the seventh Fighting Irish 27-24 in the opening of the two teams.
“It’s just an incredible night,” said Miami coach Mario Cristobal after the Hurricanes hid a slide from eight games against the first 10 opponents. “Incredible night for so many people who have poured so much.”
CJ Daniels made a series of touchdown with a spectacular hand and Rueben Bain had an interception on a pass defined three times in the fourth quarter for the Hurricanes, who surpassed Notre Dame 324 Yards at 314. Malachi Toney had a touchdown of Touché and Marty Brown added a TD race for Miami.
CJ Carr, during his first departure for Notre Dame, finished 19 out of 30 for 221 yards with two Touché passes and an interception – plus a precipitated score with 3:21 on the left which equaled the match, capping a rally of 14 points. Micah Gilbert and Jordan Faison had the rating captures for the Irish.
“The effort was there,” said Notre Dame’s coach Marcus Freeman.
Miami made 46 yards on 10 games on the reader who followed, with Davis – a transfer of FAU – delivering the head. Notre Dame obtained the ball at her own 25, out of dead times, and went nowhere before the expiration of time.
“My God, I was nervous,” said Beck. “But we did it.”
Miami won the draw and postponed, which turned out to be relevant – because the Hurricanes essentially missed the chronometer in the first half with a 75 yards TD route, then started the second half with another March TD of 75 yards.
Carr’s first collegial touch-up pass occurred on a game where he fell back, Zigging and Zagging to avoid pressure, then went up to the line before finding Gilbert for what has become a fairly easy score that equaled the match at 7-7.
Almost an hour has passed in real time before Carr launched another ball, because Miami essentially had consecutive property separated only by an Irish agency to end half-time.
The seizure of 20 yards of Daniels came with 12 seconds before half-time to give Miami an advance of 14-7, and the Hurricanes chewed half the clock in the third quarter on another route of 75 yards crowned by the race of 5 yards of Brown.
The 14 -point lead did not last, but Davis delivered, then Bain and Akheem Mesidor combined for bags on the last two snaps while Miami’s defense closed it.
“It was a Top 10 fight,” said Freeman. “It has been about a three -point game against a hell of a football team.”
The point to take away
