Nvidia Invests in OpenAI With $100 Billion to Build Out More AI Data Centers
OPENAI and NVIDIA have struck one of the largest partnerships in AI, NVIDIA rushing to invest up to $ 100 billion in OPENAI while providing the necessary calculation power to build the next generation of company models.
The agreement, announced on Monday in a letter of intent, calls for OpenAi to deploy at least 10 gigawatts of Nvidia systems for AI data centers in the coming years. The first phase, One Gigawatt, is scheduled for the second half of 2026 on the next Vera Rubin de Nvidia platform, named after the black matter astronomer. Nvidia’s investment will increase on scale as each new system is deployed.

“It all starts with the calculation,” said the CEO of Openai, Sam Altman, in a press release. “Calculation infrastructure will be the basis of the economy of the future, and we will use what we build with Nvidia to create new IA breakthroughs and empower people and businesses with them on a large scale.”

This partnership is notable because IA research is increasingly limited by access to massive IT resources. By obtaining a long -term pipeline of NVIDIA equipment, OpenAi seeks to guarantee its ability to keep up with the pace of competitors like Google, Anthropic, Microsoft and Meta.
