NYPD officer dies in Kuwait from medical episode during Operation Epic Fury

A 12-year NYPD officer has died while deployed to Kuwait in support of Operation Epic Fury, officials said Saturday.

Officer Sorffly Davius ​​died Friday after suffering a “medical episode,” the NYPD said in an article on X.

“Today, our city mourns the loss of Police Officer Sorffly Davius, who died Friday following a medical issue while deployed to Kuwait with the U.S. National Guard’s 42nd Infantry Division,” Mayor Mamdani and NYPD Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch said in a joint statement.

Davius ​​joined the NYPD in 2014, when he was assigned to the 79th Precinct in Bedford-Stuyvesant in Brooklyn.

He served in the 42nd Infantry Division of the U.S. National Guard, reaching the rank of major, cops said.

The cause of his death was not immediately released.
