NYPD officer shot in the head in the Bronx; suspect in custody

A New York Police Department officer was shot but narrowly avoided serious injury when a bullet grazed his head Thursday night during a thrilling shootout in the Bronx with an armed teenager, officials said.
The confrontation broke out at 1015 E. Gun Hill Road around 10 p.m., officials said.
The officer was rushed to Jacobi Hospital and was in stable condition.
The 18-year-old suspect, who lives in the Bronx, is in custody, officials said.
