NYT Strands today (game #760) – the answers

The answers to today’s Strands, game #760, are…
- AGENT
- BETTOR
- JOCKEY
- FORECAST
- BOOKMAKER
- COACH
- SPANGRAM: HORSE RACING
- My rating: Hard
- My rating: 2 tips
My initial thoughts on today’s theme were related to music tracks or athletics. Not finding anything that matched either and finding plenty of words that weren’t related to the game, I figured out a clue.
Alas, AGENT didn’t help me at all and, not knowing how to progress, I used a second hint. BETTOR got me thinking about gambling and finally the penny dropped.
As the son of a man who spent every hour of his time studying horse racing guides, perhaps I should have covered this subject a little more quickly, but I have to say that I find the act of sitting on animals a bit ridiculous. I realize this may be a niche opinion, but to me it feels like something humans should have evolved to no longer need to do.
