Two men of the Dominican Republic who committed a litany of crimes after having entered illegally in the United States were charged in relation to the shooting of a custom and border patrol agent on the top of Manhattan, the federal authorities announced on Thursday.

Miguel Francisco Mora Nunez, 21, and Christian Aybar-Berroa, 22, are confronted with federal accusations linked to the possession of ammunition by an illegal foreigner, said internal security officials.

It was not immediately clear why the attempted murder and aggression were not also charged.

“As claimed, these defendants have entered and spent years in our country illegally, and their criminal activity led to a almost deadly attack on Saturday evening on one of ours,” said Ricky Patel, special agent of internal security in charge, in charge, in a statement revealing the accusations.

On July 19, the CBP officer on leave was seated with a woman on a rock near the seafront at Fort Washington Park by W. 178th St. when two men stopped on a moped and tried to steal it around 11:50 p.m., said cops.

The surveillance video seems to show a man in a white shirt – identified later by the cops like Mora Nunez – descend from the moped and approach them from behind, pistol in hand. After a brief fight, Mora Nunez fired, hitting the officer in the face and seems to slip out of sight by a bush while the officer targets his own weapon.

The cops said that the officer was burnt down, hitting Mora Nunez, who was then deposited by a moped by his accomplice in a neighboring hospital with ball injury to the leg and groin, police sources said.

Doctors took the 42 -year -old officer to Harlem hospital in a stable state.

Mora Nunez, who was born in the Dominican Republic, entered the country illegally by Arizona in 2023, the authorities said. He has two previous arrests for domestic violence in New York and also wanted to face accusations of theft of theft and crime. He was also wanted in the Massachusetts for a stolen weapon affair, said NYPD commissioner Jessica Tisch.

Aybar-Berroa also entered the country of the Dominican Republic illegally. Like his alleged accomplice, he has a vast criminal record and is wanted in a series of flights, according to the NYPD.

Mora Nunez risks up to 15 years in prison if she is found guilty. Aybar-Berroa faces seven and a half years.

Thursday, President Trump filed a federal complaint against New York and Mayor Adams seeking to end the law policies of the city of Sanctuary, citing the shooting in Fort Washington’s park as proof of an “violent crime” perpetrated by illegal immigrants.
