San Angelo police announced Thursday that three suspects have been arrested in connection with a Mother’s Day shooting that killed one person and left another wounded.
The suspects are Zachary Garza, 21, Nikolai Sanchez, 18, and a 16-year-old juvenile who was not named.
Suspects are considered innocent unless convicted beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
SAPD said in a media release a social gathering was taking place at a residence in the 600 block of East 44th Street about 1:20 a.m. on May 10 when multiple gunshots were fired.
Officers found two victims at the scene. One, Jaborien Cook, 22, died at Shannon Medical Center while a 17-year-old female was treated and was expected to recover.

Online jail records show his bond was set at $1 million. Sanchez was booked into the Randall County Jail in Amarillo, according to the SAPD release. Police Chief Travis Griffith said at a news conference Thursday that all suspects in the case are in custody. He thanked other agencies involved in the case and pointed out San Angelo has partnered with the Texas Department of Public Safety to provide support for SAPD at a time of staff shortages.
He said six DPS troopers helped cover other police calls while SAFB officers worked murder case on the morning of the shooting.
“We’re going to continue that type of partnership,” Griffith said.
