Readers sound off on co-op sales, Jerry Seinfeld and Charlie Kirk’s comments

Cooperative cards should not block fair transactions
Orinda, California: an exhibition is justified covering the apparently increasing cooperative practice by which certain advice reject highly qualified buyers only because the board of directors incorrectly judges the sale price as too low, often without taking into account the characteristics or the state of the apartment.
The most seriously injured victims here are the sellers, the investment of which is thus made illicid while they continue to incur fees. If a seller accepts an offer, the cooperative often rejects the sale if the price is lower than its idealistic minimum. However, if the seller requests a price or above the unrealistic evaluation of the cooperative, no competent buyer will buy the unit. This wrestling is particularly devastating for the elderly who need to leave their apartment urgently – for example, for assisted life – but who are repeatedly prevented from selling it. Condos sales are not subject to this blatant limitation, and there must be legislation prohibiting this ruinous behavior by cooperatives.
Although the intention of a board of directors may be to preserve the values of the apartments in a building by locking up the sales lower than desirable but unrealistic assessments, in reality, their actions can make certain cooperative apartments less precious, because it makes them a option of housing potentially illiquid and an uneasy investment.
Cooperatives are home to people from all economic status in New York, and the unreasonable rejection of a cooperative based on prices not only victims of qualified buyers, who devote time and money to a good faith application process are not aware that they will have no chance of closing, but this can lead sellers to lose all their investment, more interest. Missed a
Sunnyside: The shame of the supposed newspaper of the New York hometown for not having mentioned Curtis Sliwa during your cover of the race for the mayor. In a Sunday article on the candidates who stick to their message (“the mayor’s rivals who stick to messages following the assassination of Kirk”, on September 14), the other three candidates are mentioned, including the mayor Adams, who drags Sliwa in each survey. And this is not the first occurrence. How can you claim to properly cover the elections for any NYC if you intentionally ignore the candidate who is currently intervening at number three? Brian Augello
Choose judiciously
Davis, California: It seems that Governor Hochul now thinks that she will get political points by diverting the attention of voters on President Trump and far from the promises of gifts from Zohran Mamdani who cannot work in the real world. But Trump is not on the list of critical concerns NYC faces. The next election of the mayor of the city of New York is essential in the future of the city and will have consequences which cannot be easily canceled if the city is deteriorating even more. The conditions in New York must be dealt with by a person with experience in managing an incredibly complex urban environment. Voters, choose carefully and carefully, not emotionally. The future of a big city is at stake. Julia Lutch
Shortage of details
Holliswood: Re “Howor Mamdani can repair the opinion of the NYPD”, September 14): incredible. The Daily News allows Fred Davie to embark on a screed against the NYPD without mentioning once the facts of the case it hides. Here are the facts. Allan Feliz was arrested for not having a seat belt. He produced a driving license that was not his. The license had attached arrest warrants. Feliz was in federal conditional release for the sale of a controlled substance and had such articles on him at the time of the meeting. He got out of the vehicle when he ordered, but immediately returned and tried to leave. After his partner had trouble with him to stop. And to prevent his partner from being dragged by the vehicle, the sergeant of the time fired Feliz. Too bad on the Daily News to publish an article that did not have all the relevant facts. Serious declaration
Brooklyn: Hannah Einbinder may have won the Emmy Award for the best support actress in a comedy, but her remark as “Palestine Libre” was not a joke. Einbinder and other so-called Jewish activists who denounce Israel on each occasion should only be posted among the Palestinians. Let’s see how long they would last. Shame on them. Am Yisrael Chai – The people (nation) of Israel live. Ed Greenspan
Inexcusable ignorance
Bedford, Ny: Jerry Seinfeld is perhaps one of the most stupid alive comedians, with his opinions on Palestine and his total contempt for the suffering of millions of terrible people (“Seinfeld becomes serious about Israel and does things”, OP-ED, September 13). He grew up in the United States, so I guess he did not attend primary school where he learned that he was one of the “elected officials” and therefore superior to the others, and was not subjected to brainwashing, thinking that the Palestinians were inferior to him. These things are taught to the children of Israel, which explains cruelty and savagery inflicted on the Palestinians by FDI soldiers. So, where do the views of Seinfeld come from? Yes, there are Neanderthals who have similar opinions, but they are not so arrogant to preach to others. Did Seinfeld adhere to the idea that it doesn’t matter what Israel does to “defend himself” himself is always the victim, even when she commits atrocities? Mr. Seinfeld, you are a shame. Sad, not saint
Manhattan: Leonard Greene did things in his Sunday chronicle (“Kirk’s death is tragic, but he said horrible things”, September 14). Physical violence – be it a fist or weapon – is no way to conduct political arguments, and the act of assassinating Charlie Kirk should be condemned by all, regardless of political and political opinions. But Kirk’s spread of ideas of exclusion (like Christian nationalism) firmly planting it against the central aspiration of our nation to build a society in which all people are free and equal. According to his words, we see that he is not a candidate for holiness. Now, and always, it is time to defend the ideals that have made America the place that has taught the world the meaning of freedom and to continue to strive to be a more perfect union. Richard Mark
Vile views
Bronx: There is absolutely no way to tolerate political violence for anyone, and I send my condolences to Kirk’s women and children. However, I will not join the chorus, which makes him another man with a sweet manifesto who only exchanged opinions. I had never heard of him before, so I had to do research and I was shocked by what I found. His words led me to think that there is still such a movement in the United States which would spit these words. I will not repeat his words on MLK, Michelle Obama, the judge of the Supreme Court Ketanji Brown Jackson or civil rights legislation. If it represented to him, I would not have received the college studies that I did because black women do not have the “brain power”. I do not wish his tragic fate on him, but I will not hold him as a saint. Pauline Graham Binder
Bad adjective
Brooklyn: When someone kills or tries to kill another person with a high power rifle, he can be referred to as many things. An odious act, the act of a “crazy” person, etc. It is never a loose act. It can be turned in this way to try to make people feel better, but that is simply not the case. Cowardice is the lack of courageous behavior. To be courageous is to be discouraged by pain or danger. End Guy, victim of firearms
Darien, Conn.: Can someone ask the nra how to keep the innocent people alive in our formerly peaceful country? It has become completely uncontrollable when Kirk is murdered after promoting NRA. Dan Singer
Unofficial expenses
Flushing: After Kirk was killed on September 10, vice-president JD Vance stole his coffin from Salt Lake City to Phoenix on Air Force Two. My question: Who pays the cost of this flight? Probable response: We taxpayers. The following question: Why should the cost of this very partisan flight be worn by Americans not Maga? Irvin Barnett
