Real Madrid midfielder expected to return against Sevilla – report

When Eduardo Camavinga left the field injured against Athletic Club earlier this month, there was optimism that the setback was not serious and the player would only have a few days out.
Indeed, Camavinga seemingly returned to training within days and was even part of the squad to face Celta Vigo in Real Madrid’s first match at the Santiago Bernabeu in over a month.

However, he made no appearances off the bench and was quickly left out of the squad for the team’s subsequent matches.
The signs pointed to a residual problem from which he had not yet fully recovered.

As COPE relays in a recent update, Camavinga is expected to return to the Real Madrid squad for the team’s match against Sevilla and could even see some involvement that evening.
He probably won’t travel with the team to face Talavera in King’s Cup midweek game, and that’s understandable, given how it’s playing against a lower division opponent.

The idea, needless to say, is to get the midfielder fit and back in time for the Sevilla clash. Xabi Alonso, after all, sees him as a handy defensive midfielder and interior midfielder in his arsenal.
So far this season, the Frenchman has largely suffered from injuries and has just four starts and eleven appearances for Real Madrid in La Liga.
He has one goal in La Liga this season, which ironically came in the same game in which he was last injured.
Camavinga is expected to serve as Aurélien Tchouameni’s replacement when he returns to the team, but there is also a good chance he will feature in central midfield where the team needs more solidity.
The fullback position is also an outside option, especially given the team’s struggles in the department in recent weeks.
